A six-pack of Marlins notes on a Monday in which they were one-hit by the Nationals (in a 1-0 loss) and didn?t make a trade before the 4 p.m. deadline:
? The Marlins received offers for Dee Gordon and Dan Straily but none were tempting enough to pull the trigger.
In the case of Gordon, multiple teams tried to pry him for very little, believing the Marlins were eager to dump his contract, according to sources. But the Marlins were under no such obligation.
He?s due $37 million from 2018 through 2020, with a $14 million team option for 2021. The Marlins could buy him out for $1 million in 2021 if they don?t pick up that option.
